I seem to have injured my right wrist awfully :( Right now I'm blaming it on having to haul myself up hills without herringbone while cross-country skiing, though I'm not sure if that's true or not. I've been doing nothing but working and watching Narnia movies and eating for the past few days, it's crazy. The store is now very clean and tidy and dusted and glossed up, thanks to it not being busy, ever. Tomorrow Sam (aka Dark Bunny) is coming in to visit me! I'm excited already.
I have also been listening non-stop to the Barenaked Ladies' kids cd, Snack Time, which is hilarious. It is absolutely brilliant. One of the many things of which I am a connoisseur (the other things being maple syrup, Canadian authors, and zoos) is childrens music. Most childrens music is horrendously and ridiculously annoying; I'm of the school of thought that says let kids listen to adult (or "real") music. The perfect childrens music is that which makes you happy while listening to it, is catchy and light, and is not annoying (so the adults can enjoy it, too). My favourite kids music is the Putumayo cds, which are filled with really neat world songs, things you wouldn't hear otherwise - they're fun to listen to and don't drive you crazy. I've long been a fan of Fred Penner, Jack Grunsky, and Raffi (to a point; the songs are entertaining, but get annoying after a while), but we play the Putumayo cds the most .
Snack Time, though, is amazing. Oh my goodness. I've always known BNL is clever, but every single song makes me LAUGH, it's so brilliant. (Whatsisface was caught for coke possession right after it came out, and, frankly, you can tell: the entire cd sounds like they wrote it on a massive coke-trip.) There's one song called 'Raisins,' and it is the best song I have ever, ever heard. You don't even know. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW. It's only about a minute and a half, and I love it. I will always love it.
Raisins come from grapes/people come from apes/I come from Canada
I came in first place/in a non-existent race/to rebuild the Parthenon
The Parthenon's in Greece/or was it in 'Greece 2'/I can't keep my movies straight
When I make mistakes/I use a lot of salt/salt makes mistakes taste great!
I don't want to be a bother but I think the phone's for you...
I've got orange pants/I wear them when I dance/but I don't get out that much
You are just too loud/I passed you in a crowd/thank you and keep in touch
I don't speak Chinese/not even words like 'please'/'thank you' or 'how are you'
But I can parle Francais/I parled a bit today/seemed like the thing to do
I don't want to be a bother but I think you're in my seat...
I have uploaded it HERE, because honestly, I want you all to listen to it; it's so short, just do it. You will laugh. Wait until they start whistling. Oh Dear Lord.
'Crazy ABCs' and 'I Don't Like' are also brilliant, because it's just them having little conversations, like in 'If I Had $1000000,' and they're both hilarious. All the songs are so catchy (I love 'Polywog'), and very cute and funny (like 'Canadian Snacktime Trilogy II: Popcorn' and 'Ninjas'). They are so clever - the lyrics to '789' are so amazing. It's like the kid's joke about seven eating nine, and they talk about Pluto and Ronaldo and vampires and it's so amazing. There are lots of decent 'normal' songs too, that don't even sound like kid's songs ('Here Come The Geese'), and are slow and beautiful. I love it, because it sounds just like BNL, and they manage to be their amazing word-twisting selves and make a kid's album (sad they had to be on coke to do it).
You should listen to it, to every single lyric, because it's just too funny not to. Or maybe it just seems like a reprieve to me. Anyway, tomorrow I get to see Sam, and go to Griff's New Year's Party, and I'm also doing my G2 driving test... aieee. See you on the flip side ;)

I miss BNL so much! I haven't listened to them in years. Lord.
Haha, I don't like the barenaked ladies but their album sounds AWESOME.
Aaahhh, I just listened to it! I love it! :) Raisins is making a home on my iPod.
Raisins! That is actual GENIUS.
I hope your driving test went well, what is a G2 test?
The time is passing by alarmingly fast. The last time I spoke to you was last year! Did you have a Good New Years? Just give me a minute while I try to recall the Manx gaelic I used to know... Ah yes, "Blein Vie Noa!"
xx

It went very well, I passed! We have a graduated system here: I've had my G1 for a year (I can drive, but I have to have a licenced driver in the front seat with me, I can't go on the major highways or pull a trailer); with my G2, I can drive by myself and go on the major highways. The only thing I'm not allowed to do with a G2 is have a blood alcohol level over 0 or have more than two people under 19 in the car that aren't related to me. In a year I can do my test to have my G, which means I'll be a fully-licenced driver.
I know, right? I mean, I haven't bathed since last year! How time flies XD Did you have a good New Years?
